Rituals | Mathilde Lagarrigue

Our “Rituals” series comes to meet you, at home, listening to your lifestyle habits.

These little routines that you have adopted more or less consciously, to improve your mood, inspire you, get in shape, ... In short, to have a fulfilling day, being faithful to your desires and efficient in the implementation of your projects.

For this second episode, we met Mathilde Lagarrigue , an ultra creative and inspired entrepreneur.
She talks to us about photography, comfort, versatility and Kundalini.

Hello Mathilde, can you introduce yourself quickly?

My name is Mathilde Lagarrigue. I am twenty-eight years old and I live in Bordeaux.
I am a creative entrepreneur.

Do you spend a lot of time at home?

I spend most of my time at home. And I love it.
My home is a bit like my cocoon. I also receive quite a few people at my home for my shootings.

Can you tell us more about your work as a photographer?

Photography has been with me since I was very young, since I was twelve years old.
It helped me create my businesses and communicate about my activities.
I set up as a freelance photographer in 2018. Since then, I have worked with brands and individuals from very diverse backgrounds.

Photography has opened so many doors for me. It is a profession-passion that helps me see life and my interior differently.

You spend a lot of time at home.
What is your relationship with your interior?

For me, it's my cocoon, it's my room. It's a place that is very important to me as an introvert.

I like it when it's beautiful, tidy, aesthetic.
I like it when there is plenty of natural light, the sun's rays, its shadows.
I take pictures of them every day.

Rituals Mathilde Lagarrigue

You talk about the notion of cocoon. Do you have a ritual to feel good at home?

I love waking up early, I love having the apartment to myself for a few moments to start my day.
When I wake up, I always do the same thing. I make myself a really good coffee that I love to take pictures of.
Then I sit at my table or on the floor under the light for my little morning introspection writing session.

I put on some music, I'm in my little cocoon, and I take this time to think about what happened the day before, or I take my cards (editor's note: Daily Monologues)

There is a little bit of meditation. As with photography, there is a meditative part in my creative process. Writing allows me to get a lot of things out, to understand a lot of things. Putting them on paper is very important to me.

After this routine usually follows a yoga or meditation step. I'm doing a lot of Kundalini at the moment.

What is Kundalini?

It's a particular type of yoga that is very focused around spirituality, mantras. There are a lot of breathing exercises. It's something I discovered a few months ago and it has very beautiful effects.

Rituals Mathilde Lagarrigue

You have a universe that is very rich, very internal. Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration as a photographer everywhere; in a ray of sunlight hitting the walls and taking a different axis depending on the time of day, when I walk along the Garonne and see the sun reflected in the water.

I collect a lot of images from Instagram or Pinterest.
I had I don't know how many blogs when I was younger.
Tumbler is a gem for me. I've made tons of Pinterest boards.

I revisit all these images from time to time, like a collector.

Do you have a wardrobe dedicated to your interior?

Actually, yes. I didn't conceptualize it like that but it's clear that I love wearing comfortable clothes.
I like to have good quality clothes that are loose and flowing. I also really like vintage clothes.
So, I mix all that a little before me. I have a bit of an androgynous wardrobe, I often wear my boyfriend's stuff. I like this cocoon side, comfort, beautiful materials, minimalist.

A piece of clothing that you prefer to wear at home more than any other?

I like shirts that are a little loose. They can be pajamas or they can be very chic.
I like clothes that are a little versatile. I like them with a lot of ease, flowing. Being comfortable in them, being able to move without hindrance…

Rituals Mathilde Lgarrigue

You have a taste for comfort, tranquility, relaxation... Do you have "comfort" clothes in your wardrobe that bring you comfort?
A piece of clothing that you have had for a long time, that represents something for you, a little sentimental…

I would say that this piece, at the moment, is a big sweater from my boyfriend. I like this oversized side, this "borrowed" side too.
I love the idea of sharing clothes.

How would you define your look?

Whether inside or out, we're going to say "unisex non-gendered androgynous."
The basis of my looks is always a pair of vintage jeans. I have loads of them, in several colors, several different sizes. I like to have lots of different sizes in my wardrobe too…
And a sweater.

As I said, I love shirts too, they are very versatile. In fact, I like things that can be worn on many occasions.

We come to the end of this “Rituals” conversation.
What can we wish for the future?

You can wish me many things (lol) because I have many different projects. I always have lots of ideas… Right now, I am launching a photography training course for entrepreneurs. I want to pass on everything I know, everything I have learned.

And then you can wish me to continue to have lots of ideas. And to do everything to realize them ;)

It works. Thanks, Mathilde!
